As a fellow aphantasiac, I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to visualize things in your mind. It can be challenging when you’re trying to comprehend abstract concepts or explain something to someone.
But have you considered using tactile objects to aid in your understanding? That’s right, I’m talking about playing with toys. Now before you dismiss this as childish or impractical, hear me out.
Using physical objects in your hands, such as building blocks or figurines, can help you create a tangible representation of the thing you’re trying to understand. For example, if you’re struggling with a math problem involving geometry, use building blocks to physically create the shapes and angles involved. You may find that your brain is better able to process the information when it has a physical representation to work with.
Plus, playing with toys is just plain fun, and who doesn’t love a little bit of playtime?
So, next time you’re having trouble understanding something, try bringing out your old toy box or investing in some new tactile objects. It may just be the missing piece in your comprehension puzzle. And don’t forget to share your experiences with the aphantasia community – we’re always looking for new ways to improve our visualizations!
